It is important to distinguish that there are many in our community (including us soon) who sell online. E-commerce is a powerful and important tool, especially for artists and grassroots campaigns. The contribution of those who utilize e-commerce as a business platform to their own communities is significant and many are local independent business owners (and big supporters of Asheville Grown Business Alliance). We merely wanted to point out that when we make a purchase online (most importantly via mega-retailers and large corporations) is it possible to think locally first and make that purchase within our community with a locally owned, independent business?Asheville Grown Business Alliancehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17490593244720184861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7240704847620786146.post-36269141592306210312010-02-19T16:04:33.259-05:002010-02-19T16:04:33.259-05:00I wanted to make a note about the comment that onl...I wanted to make a note about the comment that online shopping results in a 0% return into the local economy. I know a many local crafters and artists (including myself) who sell online because we can't afford the overhead of a brick and mortar storefront. Many of us buy supplies locally, donate our products to many local fund raising efforts, and hire local web designers, seamstresses, etc. as well as return much of the profit we make back into the local economy when we shop.KidTasterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13000784217238379012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7240704847620786146.post-89509807243713757082010-02-19T07:53:09.279-05:002010-02-19T07:53:09.279-05:00Right on!
