TRIO OF NATIONS TOP COMEDIANS ADDED TO LINEUP FOR COMEDY CLASSIC WEEKEND AT THE GROVE PARK INN RESORT & SPA

ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA (January 31, 2011) ---  The 23rd Annual Comedy Classic weekend at The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa just got a lot funnier with the addition of three of the nations top comedians.  It’s a weekend of a thousand laughs as nationally syndicated radio personalities John Boy & Billy host two nights of laugh out loud comedy on March 11 and 12.  Don’t miss the chance to see headline act Jon Reep take the stage at 8 p.m. on Friday March 11.  Reep is known as the "That thing got a Hemi?" guy in Dodge commercials, and as the winner of the fifth season of Last Comic Standing on NBC. Reep will be joined by Keith Alberstadt and Jimmy Shubert. Alberstadt has appeared on Late Night with David Letterman and is a writer for Saturday Night Lives’ Weekend Update. Shubert has built an impressive resume as an actor, both in film and on television. He is recognized as one of the most successful comedians working today.  Tickets for the Friday night show are $45.

On Saturday March 12, the laughs keep on coming as Elon Gold headlines the show. Gold has established himself as one of the top comedians in the country, having appeared on numerous television shows, including four recent appearances on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Gold will be joined by Tommy Johnagin and Reno Collier. Johnagin's television credits include Comedy Central's Live at Gotham, CMT Comedy Stage and The Late Show with David Letterman. Collier gained celebrity as the opening act for Larry the Cable Guy and with his own Comedy Central Presents special. Collier was also featured on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Next Generation. Tickets for Saturday are $50.

Funny Business Comedy Club Seeking New Partner in Asheville

Asheville, NC - January, 18th, 2011 - The same Asheville-based comedy booking agency that booked high-caliber comedians at the Funny Business Comedy Club is actively seeking a new partner in bringing a professional stand-up comedy club to Asheville.

After leaving S&W restaurant last year, Funny Business Comedy Club had great hopes for a new and better location. But, like so many things in this economy, it didn't work out as planned. Funny Business Comedy Club is still very committed to re-opening it's club in the Asheville area.

And, they are actively looking for your help finding a new home for the comedy club here in Asheville.

“Ideally, we would like to find a restaurant, hotel, movie theater or nightclub that we can partner with,” owner John Yoder says. “Any place that serves alcohol, has 100+ seats, and would like to be Asheville’s only spot for professional comedy that would bring in a great deal of new customers to their venue.”

"Laugh Your Asheville Off" launches 2009 Stand Up Comedy Concert series with a Showcase show at the Diana Wortham Theatre.

Asheville, NC (January 15th) The preparation for this summers 3rd Annual Laugh Your Asheville Off Comedy Festival begins February 6th at the Diana Wortham Theatre when some of the newest faces of comedy and some veterans of comedy come to Asheville in hopes of getting chosen for a performance spot in the largest stand-up comedy festival in the southeast.

The hundreds of submissions for the 2009 comedy concert series has been nearly overwhelming for the Laugh Your Asheville Off organizers, Greg Brown and Charlie Gerencer, and they thought that a season opening "Asheville comedy showcase" in front of the Asheville crowd seemed like the right fit for comics to bring their best material.

"We can watch a comic on youtube, but you never get a feel how good the comic is until they are in front of the Asheville crowd at the Diana Wortham Theatre." says Charlie Gerencer. Each comic is on stage for a fraction of the time they normally perform in comedy clubs, so its going to make for a punch line packed and high energy show.
