The search for a good Asheville Deli / Delicatessen

Grabbing a sub, hero sandwich or regular sandwich at a "Deli" in the Asheville North Carolina area is getting pretty difficult these days. New York Bagels on Merrimon and Keiffer's Deli in Fairview were my favorite spots around town until they went out of business or changed owners.

Now we have some new places in the running. Here is a "Deli" list in the Asheville area:

1. Franks Deli (South Asheville on Sweeten Creek Rd) We have been to Frank's Deli several times and their sandwiches are incredible and they use Boar's Head deli products.

2. Romans Take Out (Downtown Asheville on Haywood St) Have only been here once and it was great. Lots of good feedback from the community. They use Boar's Head deli products as well.

3. Circle In The Square (North Asheville on Merrimon Ave) They specialize in Pizza, but their deli of Boar's Head products is amazing. Great sandwich shop / pizzeria.

4. Loretta's (Downtown Asheville on Patton Ave) This is a little "hole in the wall" sandwich shop that is pretty popular in the area. We have eaten here many times and had great lunch meals every time.

5. Jersey Mike's (North, South and West Asheville)

6. Jimmy Johns (Downtown Asheville on Biltmore Ave)

7. Lenny's Sub Shop (Biltmore area on Biltmore Ave)

8. Firehouse Subs (East and South Asheville)

9. Subway (North, South, East, West and Downtown Asheville)

10. Blimpie (East Asheville)

***PLEASE comment below on any that we might have missed. Also leave comments of your favorite place and why. Thanks!!

AVL - Buddha Bagels - Owners are Great!

I stopped by Buddha Bagels on Merrimon Ave in Asheville (about 2 minutes north of Downtown) to get one of their Boar's Head sandwiches, and got this pic of both of the owners walking around, greeting, checking the customers, and just partaking in the convo.

I love to use this place as one of my Asheville (free wi-fi) pit stops. Great atmosphere, food, giant Mac for customer use, awesome! Thank you Buddha Bagels for contributing to Asheville North Carolina. www.BuddhaBagels.com

Asheville's Buddha Lounge, Internet Cafe, Bookstore, & Great Food!

Stopped by the Buddha Lounge today on Merrimon Avenue to have lunch and do some work in their new Asheville Internet Cafe. Sitting here right now on my laptop and Blackberry, and there are several people working and relaxing. Nice environment here with some soothing music and a giant Mac available for guests.

Buddha Bagels, which recently changed names and owners from New York Bagels is better than ever before. You can order your lunch which is made usually of premium "Boars Head" meats and cheeses, visit Mystic Journeys through an inside entrance and find some inspiration, options, and direction while your sandwich is being custom built. My favorite is "The Monster" sub wth Muenster cheese.

But the lounge is really cool. I asked one of the owners for details and he mentioned the free wifi, getting some bands on the weekends, great seating, and awesome people! Very nice work guys! Thanks you for making a hot spot on Merrimon Avenue in Asheville North Carolina.

Hours are Fri & Sat till 11pm, other days till 10pm. Opens at 7am every morn. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, snack, quick bite... and with these hours... a great place to grab my midnight snack on the way home, lol.

Nick's Grill - Sandwiches Subs more

Nick's in North Asheville is a great place to stop and grab a bite to eat for lunch. They carry the old school diner look, but the food is very good. I personally like the Pita Bacon Cheeseburger, and some Baklava. Favorite lunch site for plenty of professionals in the Woodfin NC are.

Jersey Mike's Asheville North Carolina

The "Subway" craze did not last long with places like Quizno's and Jersey Mike's coming to the Asheville area. The JM's on Patton Avenue had no parking or seating at all the other day when we tried to get in. I though "these patrons are so commited to Jersey Mike's because of the food and service".

Here is a photo of the 11:59am lunch line just starting to develop at the Jersey Mike's on Merrimon Avenue (sometimes it is running out the door unto the sidewalk). Great sandwiches!
