Pizza & Ice Cream benefit for the Asheville City Schools Foundation on January 14, 2011

On January 14th 2011, GalloLea Pizza and The Hop are coming together to benefit the Asheville City Schools Foundation from 5pm - 7pm. 


GalloLea provides healthy and gluten free pizza kits that you can purchase at several locations in the Asheville area. The Hop is a great local ice cream shop and has 2 locations; one on Merrimon Ave in North AVL and the other one on Haywood Rd in West AVL. 

The Asheville City Schools Foundation (ACSF) is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to the educational success of all Asheville City Schools students. The Foundation works to engage and mobilize the community to support teachers, students, and their families.

Asheville benefit to save little Brianna - read the story here...

As many of our friends and regular customers know, we tragically lost our daughter and sister Christina on Mother's Day this year. She left behind 2 year old Brianna and it was her wishes in her Will that she was left in our care.

Having Brianna with us since Christina's death has been a blessing for us...we will always have part of her here with us in her daughter. Unfortunately, during this time of loss and sorrow, the small estate that was left to Brianna by her mother has gotten then attention of Brianna's father, who has played a very small part in her life and has never done anything for his daughter financially or emotionally. We have had to go to court twice so far to protect Brianna and her humble estate...and we have won both times. But the fight continues!

We have started the Brianna Lynn Morehouse-Izon Estate Legal Fund to help raise money for Brianna's legal fees. We are having a special dinner event to continue raising money for this fund. We just finished the menu and we are very excited about it. We are prepared to make you some of the finest food to come from our kitchens using fresh local foods and the love from our family.

Menu:

Chilled Peach and Ginger soup

Champagne and Brie Fondue in Sour Dough bowl w/crudite`

Caesar Salad or Organic Mixed Baby Greens

Main Course Choices:

Bistro St. Jacques
Tender scallops, crab meat & shrimp blended in a white wine Alfredo sauce, seasoned and crumb coated for a quick flame broil. Served with an Asparagus Risotto pyramid.

Chateaubriand
The ultimate mouth watering Tenderloin of Beef sliced thin, served with Bearnaise's, artichoke bottoms and truffled potato rosette.

Duck Breast
Grilled to perfection, sliced and served with asparagus risotto and fresh vegetables and chef's choice of glaze.

Vegetarian Prima Vera
Spaghetti Squash tenderly roasted, tri-colored peppers, black olives, artichokes, seasoned and tossed with olive oil and Asiago shavings.

Asheville Twestival 2010 - We Helped Save The World

The Asheville Twestival hosted by Club 828 started with a family time from 5pm - 7pm. Taylor Martin's Engine gets rolling with some music and the party kicks in. The whole evening was focused on raising money for Concern Worldwide http://www.concern.net/ and allowing people an education, thus increasing the chances of them rising out of poverty. The "Not So Free/Free" Tasting for June benefits Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance as we are huge fans of Heather Maloy and her troupe of dancers. They are currently in rehearsals for their next show, "The Recession Blues," June 25, 26 & 27 at the Diana Wortham Theater. So, in honor of the performance join us Thursday, June 18th for "Bubbles on a Budget".

We're starting a little later to better suit the dancers'exhausting rehearsal schedule so the tasting will start at 6:00, the dancers will show up at Santé just after 7:00 (and maybe even give us a little preview) and we'll wrap it all up by 9:00. So come on out and taste some wonderful bubbles and meet Heather and the dancers of Terpsicorps' "Recession Blues." In case you're not in loop about who Terpsicorps is, they're our very own local professional dance company. Heather, a former dancer herself, is well connected in the dance community and knows that most dancers are not working durning the summer as most seasons run fall to spring. So the little minx decided to invite the creme de la creme of the dance world to Asheville in the summer ("hey kids! Let's put on a show") and has created a magnificent arts organization.

With the state of the economy what it is, the arts are suffering. Someone recently said that professional dance has the potential of becoming extinct. We at Santé, and we the community of Asheville, cannot let this happen. So come on by, drop some life (meaning cold hard cash people) into the tip jar and taste three fantastic and affordable sparkling wines! What more can you ask for - you'll get to imbibe on bodaious bubbles, you'll get to meet at some beautiful people, you'll get to give back to your community and you'll simply have a blast.

A group of friends are helping to organize a benefit to cover some of the expenses associated with our our son's hospitalization and illness. As you may know, our son Simon was hospitalized in Birmingham, AL on November 20, 2008 with a large and complicated aortic aneurysm. He was given very long survival odds and continues to slowly improve. We hope to transfer him to Mission/St. Joseph's hospital soon, but until then, we continue to burn up the miles driving to and from Birmingham.

The Benefit for Simon will take place on Tuesday, June 16 from 6-10PM in the new patio at Curras DOM, 72 Weaverville Rd., in North Asheville. It will be a ticketed event that includes dinner (provided by Curras) with music provided by New Orleans' Phil DeGruy (who is making a special trip up from NOLA just for this event), plus many other local and regional musicians. A raffle will also be held during the benefit. If you have an item that you would like to donate for the raffle, we will certainly be grateful.
