February 2009 Newsletter from Asheville Building and Real Estate

Hello Everyone and thank you for writing and asking where the newsletter was! We are reconstructing a few things in the company and becoming more efficient in everything. Plus with all of this Web 2.0 that some of our team has been doing has made this new year really interesting. If you or your team of Realtors or Builders need any type of training on Websites or Social Networking in the business realm, you need to send me an email and at least request some more info. G Social Media is doing all of our work, and you get so much exposure and so many contacts for peanuts! Anyway... some of you know Gary and what he does, and you cannot find anyone in this field that could touch his expertise. The network team he has developed goes from San Diego, to Asheville, to NYC. Several huge deals in the works including a possible full-tech building in the mountains of WNC. If there is something new out on the market, they know about it, have tested it, and even have evaluation notes on the proper usage of it. Too deep for me, but so easy for them. They can set you and your team up with a social media package, allow easy daily/hourly/whenever live updating for everyone from your desktop, laptop, and even from a text message you send from your cell phone... online in moments, live links and everything. Realtors... do not be left behind or distracted by someone who thinks they know. G does! Let them show you a sample. They just finished a small package for Miss North Carolina and made her the 1st Miss North Carolina to be set up with high tech social media communications. Very nice job guys! Asheville News - News Goes Tech ... Have you ever wanted a combination of news, blogs, ideas, recipes, small talk, notes... well kind of like a newspaper without paper? One of the biggest newest news sources in the Asheville area is on Twitter.com/AshevilleNews

Asheville Real Estate - Are we coming back? The Real Estate maket in Asheville North Carolina is yearning for a full recovery, but only small sparks of life so far. Several Realtors and Builders have contacted us and have mentioned a small influx of possibilities inquiring. While on the other side, superintendents and project managers from big local companies like Cooper Construction and Construction Logic are now looking for work and sending their resumes into everyone. News is that Coldwell Banker got caught with the bag in their hand in having too many spec projects to cover. Good and bad news comes and goes. What can you do to prepare for the good news and make it happen? If you are not focusing online, you are setting yourself up for failure. The Realtors who will rise are the ones who keep up with the tech times. Who will be the ones to step up?

Asheville Home Builder reaches out during crisis - Asheville Custom Home Builders has recently worked with New Life Options, the Eblen Foundation, and Kimmel to make sure the residential rehabilitation center in Downtown Asheville stayed open. With help from the Fire Marshal and from Harry Taylor; Life on Life's Terms kept its doors open and continue to reach out and help where needed. Thank you Bruce and Asheville Custom Home Builders! Oh, and they are the first Asheville Home Builders on Twitter! Nice Work ACHB. Need a high tech builder to network with? These are They. AshevilleCustomHomeBuilders.com

Home Builders In Asheville prepare to BOOM for 2009!

After talking to several Asheville Home Builders, we believe the majority of good Contractors in and around the Asheville area are preparing for business to begin picking up rather quickly. Many home builders in the WNC area had it really rough during this economic situation we are facing here at the beginning of 2009. We heard today of a local Asheville plumbing subcontractor going out of business because all of his builders cannot pay him any of the money that they owe his company. Asheville Framing has had several Contractors disappear on them on payday. Customers moving to Asheville and building a home in the area must be careful to choose wisely. Many builders will be trying to pay old debt from 2008 with any profit coming in 2009. Not good at all. This leaves many contracting companies (including the "big ones") trying to catch up, pay their old debt, pay past overhead, stay afloat, and use your money to pay off someone else's home. Of course banks know about this and they are keeping a tight eye on it. Watch out for those deals that are too good to be true!

If you are interested in coming to Asheville; get in touch with a stable Asheville Home Builder such as Asheville Custom Home Builders, LLC. You can view their website at www.AshevilleCustomHomeBuilders.com. They run a lot of their business through the Asheville BB&T Bank, and can assist you in finding a great piece of property or estate as well.

Asheville's Future Starts Here, simple development

The video is about construction going on below the Hillcrest Apartments in Asheville North Carolina. They are replacing a section of pipe... most likely a water line. But, I would like to talk a little on the area if you don't mind. This lower part of AVL, between Downtown, North, and West Asheville has several businesses including Grainger straight ahead, Southern States on the left here, several auto parts yards, several auto parts and repair places, and soon the Rivers Condos will be up less than a mile ahead from this point. The Richmond Hill Inn is also only one minute ahead and to the left. This is one section of real estate that will see a drastic improvement in 2009. All along the French Broad River is going to be beautiful and "Green". UNCA only 4 minutes from here. Such a great versatile central location.

Anyway... the market is the only thing that slowed Asheville down for a minute, but come Spring, people are going to start making some extra large moves. The whole economy may not pick up as quickly as here, but Investors and Planners are on the scene and Asheville is a great investment with so much future potential when you incorporate WNC. While others slept... lol. Asheville is creeping elegantly upon the National and Worldwide circuit, not too fast or slow, but kinda just right... if you know and see what I mean. Even McCafe and McDonalds plans in Asheville were not "officially" disclosed. They are staying low key in preparation for the new wave, and trying to sneak in ahead of the competition. They will be the bright new, new look, new feel restaurant on the circuit. Days Inn is using this down market time to re-invent their look and maybe some other things. People are planning and thinking... much of it is about Asheville North Carolina. What have you been thinking about lately?

Asheville Home Builders, Construction, Realty, Subcontractors... Pay Attention!

Find more photos like this on Asheville Construction and Home Building

Wanted to share this photo slideshow of the site that Asheville Contractors and Subcontractors has put up. They are not the "Asheville Home Builders Association" but many members have made a wise decision by choosing to promo themselves on this website that is alive. It is weird how people struggle, get a website up, and it does them no good. Their are so many other things than just "having a website". Code, content, tags, titles and thousands of other things you can do to make your site rise and be recognized. No, it is not $49.95 to submit your site to thousands of search engines because you have to be very careful with that too.

If you are in Construction, Home Building, or Real Estate in Asheville North Carolina... Check out this new site that allows you the freedom to Create Your Own Webpage with a few quick clicks, add links to your main website or sites if you have some, and keep updated information about you and your company in front of the public at all times. All this is free. They have their blog fed, so anything you post goes around the world in like 30 minutes or less (just like our site), and it is just such a great "Open Information Network" here in Asheville North Carolina. Construction will never be the same!

From what I have heard, Asheville Framing and Asheville Custom Home Builders were putting the site together for some co-op marketing, and they decided to pass it to ABandRE to open it up to everyone. Love the attitude!

Please, check those Asheville bridges and overpasses!

Quick pic of the State crew out working on this bridge overpass in West Asheville on Brevard Road on I-240. From what I heard there was a distressed kitten stuck up under the overpass... (just kidding). I am glad they send crews out regularly to check these overpasses. Of course Westgate gets checked very frequently, and it should. The Westgate bridge has some elevation on it and two of my kids are scared to death of it after several bridges collapsed around the country. What is the term for "bridge phobia" anyway?

Asheville Commercial Construction & Development

We really have to take a minute to brag on one of the best Commercial Contractors in Asheville North Carolina. This is not an advertisement. We just keep hearing that if you want a job completed right, at a fair price (not too low or too high), great communication, great follow up, great project managers, great superintendents, and a very successful project... you need to talk to Perry Bartsch Jr. Construction in Asheville North Carolina. They do not do giant advertising or marketing schemes, but you have probably been in many of the structures that this company has built everywhere around Western North Carolina.

One of the projects they recently completed was a Regional Destination Center for the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was LEED GOLD Certified AIA Atlanta COTE and also the Showcase winner for the 2008 Greenprints Conference. From what I heard, this was the first LEED GOLD certification in this area. Project cost was $5.5 million. Thank you Perry Bartsch for paving the way! Here is a quick picture of the inside, and also a picture that Asheville Framing gave to us of Brian (PBjr. Superintendent), Rob (PBjr. Project Manager), and Steve (PBjr Project Manager). They have a very strong team spirit. Successuful projects are what they do in and around the WNC area. When talking about the future of Asheville, Perry Bartsch Jr. is sure to have a big part in it. You can visit their website by going to www.PBjrContruction.com

Old Asheville Chamber Site

The steel on the building is almost complete, and I took a pic of this crane going into the high heavens. This site is caddy cornered from the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department. If you put your left elbow on your desk and lean your head on your hand, you should be able to see this photo perfectly level.
