Blue Ridge Rollergirls Host Season Kickoff Party and Art Auction

Mark your calendars! The Blue Ridge Rollergirls are hosting a season kickoff party and art auction on Saturday, March 21st at Stella Blue in Asheville North Carolina. Festivities will commence at 9 pm and will feature a performance by 'Bombs Away Cabaret' and music by DJs Crick Nice and Adam Strange from GFE. There will be a silent auction of art donated by local artists and all proceeds will go to the production of the Blue Ridge Rollergirls' 2009 season.
The rollergirls' season begins April 4th at the Asheville Civic Center. Doors open at 6 pm and the bout begins at 7. All kids 12 and under get in free.
Founded in June of 2006, the Blue Ridge Rollergirls make up Asheville , NC 's first all-female, flat-track roller derby league. The league’s mission is to actively create, promote, and sustain an environment that fosters strength, courage, vitality, and the empowerment of women in the roller derby sport. The Blue Ridge Rollergirls are a not-for-profit organization and foster community outreach through our support of local charities. In addition to supporting local causes with our time, we also donate 10% of ticket profits from each of our home bouts to a local charity. We love to give 'til it hurts! The Blue Ridge Rollergirls runs itself by the association’s motto, “for the skaters, by the skaters.”
